African Music: Its Nature and Singularities
Ambroise Kua-Nzambi TOKO (CG)

African musical art has always featured a huge diversity of styles. Very much related to traditions, community and religious practices, authentic African music is in general of circumstantial, functional and ritual essence. The approach to the work in its design, its rendering and its reception is sensual, substantialist, essentialist, contextual, sacred, upward, dynamic, functional or purely aesthetic. This is the focal point between the two approaches unique to 'Afro' including others: "the African spirit of music" and "the spirit of African music".

Maud Hamon-Loisance (FR)

Let's have a moment to share our experiences about Children's choirs in movement!
With some different kinds of repertoire, how can the scores inspired us to create a staging? How can the movement serve the music, help the children to sing and give something more to the audience?

The architectural space of choral music
Valeria MINUCCIANI (IT)Carlo PAVESE (IT)

This lecture explains the experiment carried out for EuropaCantat 2012, in Turin. The students of three European Schools of architecture (Turin, Helsinki and Bucarest ) designed the arrangement of some locations that hosted the choirs performances. Two project were realized, and in some cases the choirs actually interacted with the space. At the end of the project, a book was published, in cooperation between Torino Faculty of Architecture and Feniarco. The book will be presented in the lecture.

Working with Children 1: Choral Singing in Schools and Motivating Children
Kadri HUNT (EE)

Children usually come to choir rehearsals after long schooldays. So the first task of the conductor is to draw the attention of the tired young singers, to „wake them up“, to motivate. During this lecture I will suggest some possibilities of trying some new approaches to make the choir rehearsals „fresh“. Could we encourage the singers to use their phantasy there, perhaps to combine the use of the voice with physical movements or make use of instruments that our singers might study? Let us try to phantasize and play with music together!

It is also interested in valuing traditional folk tunes with new arrangements and harmonisations. During the reading session, some composers will present their latest works.: Andrea Basevi, Manolo Da Rold, Enrico Miaroma
