András Farkas, son of composer Ferenc Farkas, was born in Budapest in 1945. He received his degree in conducting at the Vienna Academy of Music under the leadership of Hans Swarowsky.
Since 1973 he has performed in Hungary and all Europe, conducting orchestras such as the Budapest Philharmonics, the Hungarian National Philharmonics, the Budapest Concert Orchestra, l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, l'Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne.
In 2004 he founded thee International Summer Choir Academy.
"For me, the most beautiful instrument is the human voice" liked to say my father, the Hungarian composer Ferenc Farkas (1905-2000), pupil of Respighi and teacher of Ligeti and Kurtag. Impassioned by poetry and beautiful texts, sensible to tongues sounds and their pulsation, he composed many oratorios, cantatas, masses, songs and more than 200 choruses in 18 different languages.
