She was studying traditional music for two years in Indonesia, specialized in singing at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts in Surakarta (Institut Seni Indonesia Surakarta). During her studies she participated in local rehearsals, traditional „klenengan” (purely musical performances given in the context of celebration) and dancing performances held in one of the palaces of Surakarta, where she could learn from elder musicians playing traditional gamelan. Furthermore she got invitation to wayangs (traditional shadow puppetry) where she performed as a studying traditional solo singer (sinden). She took part in contemporary projects performed in different festivals around Indonesia.
