Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2011. The founder of the orchestra György Lickl (Georg Lickl) conducted their first concert on the occasion of celebrating the foundation of the late Musicians’ Society. Pécs Symphonic Orchestra as a separate unit came to existence in 1984. Since then it has had Tamás Breitner, Howard Williams, Nicolás Pasquet, Zsolt Hamar and Zoltán Peskó as its musical directors. The orchestra has been working with Tibor Bogányi as its main conductor and András Vass as a permanent conductor. Zoltán Kocsis is their frequent guest conductor.
